A light, compact chair designed and presented at the 1929 Salon d’Automne along with other important models, such as the LC2 and LC3 armchairs, the LC6 table and the LC4 chaise-longue. The LC1 derives from an in-depth study of human posture. In this particular case, the chair is intended to be relaxing and to foster conversation. The balance between form and function is achieved through the use of the Modulor, a system based on the typical measurements of the male body and on a mathematical language informed by the proportions of universal harmony. Its perfect compositional simplicity, suited to any context, is available in three versions. In addition to the 1929 model, there is the 1928 Villa Church option, and the one exhibited in 1930 at the Union des Artistes Modernes. The chair’s LC-Y leather and trivalent chromium plating hold Greenguard Environmental Institute certification. A chair with timeless design that draws upon colonial styles for inspiration. Light weight and compact, the timeless shape of LC1 was introduced in 1929 at the Salon d’Automne along with other iconic pieces like LC2 and LC3, the LC6 table and LC4 chaise longue.
Une chaise légère et compacte conçue et présentée au Salon d’Automne de 1929 avec d’autres modèles importants, tels que les fauteuils LC2 et LC3, la table LC6 et la chaise-longue LC4. La LC1 est le fruit d’une étude approfondie de la posture humaine. Dans ce cas particulier, la chaise est destinée à être relaxante et à favoriser la conversation. L’équilibre entre forme et fonction est obtenu grâce à l’utilisation du Modulor, un système basé sur les mesures typiques du corps masculin et sur un langage mathématique inspiré des proportions de l’harmonie universelle. Sa parfaite simplicité de composition, adaptée à tout contexte, est disponible en trois versions. Outre le modèle de 1929, il existe l’option Villa Church de 1928, et celle exposée en 1930 à l’Union des Artistes Modernes. Le cuir LC-Y et le chromage trivalent de la chaise sont certifiés par le Greenguard Environmental Institute. Une chaise au design intemporel qui s’inspire des styles coloniaux.

It would be impossible, and very unfair, to write about the furniture designed by Le Corbusier, not to mention Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand at the same time. Although their separate works (especially those of Le Corbusier and Perriand) are quite remarkable, it is the union of the three that has left us with the best and most popular drawings. At the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts, Le Corbusier is to provide the event with furniture. It was on this occasion that he designed with Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, his unique collection of designer furniture.
